China Shields Pakistan-Based Terrorists Again, Blocks India's Move To Blacklist JeM's Abdul Rauf Azhar At UNSC
China has opposed India's call for the UN Security Council to blacklist Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist Abdul Rauf Azhar, currently based in Pakistan. Abdul Rauf, brother of JeM leader Masood Azhar, was born in 1974 in Pakistan and is known for his involvement in planning and carrying out multiple terror attacks in India. These include the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC814 in 1999, the Parliament attack in 2001 and the targeting of the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot in 2016.
