Heavy Rains and Hail to Impact Parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan This Weekend

The unseasonal rainfall activity expected to soak West-Central India may end up doing so quite thoroughly, as intense showers have been forecast in some parts of the region this weekend. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), fairly widespread light to moderate rains, isolated thunderstorms and lightning are likely over Gujarat during the weekend (Nov 25-26) and across Maharashtra, Goa and Madhya Pradesh until Monday (Nov 25-27). And with this wet spell peaking on Sunday, residents of East Rajasthan, Vidarbha, north Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat region and southwest Madhya Pradesh may see their Sunday (Nov 26) ruined by isolated heavy downpours (64.5 mm-115.5 mm). Further, isolated locations in south Rajasthan, southwest Madhya Pradesh, north Madhya Maharashtra and north Marathwada may also experience hail on Sunday and Monday (Nov 26-27). When raindrops get blown upward into extremely cold areas of the atmosphere, they freeze up and subsequently fall as hail when the thunderstorm-associated updrafts can no longer support their weight. Given these predictions, the IMD has issued a yellow watch over these subdivisions during this forecast period. The advisory urges the residents to ‘be aware’ of the local weather situation, especially during thunderstorm activity.

Ashok Gehlot shares Sachin Pilot's video message after PM Modi's ‘infighting’ jab

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot shares a video message by Sachin Pilot urging people to vote for Congress. Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday shared a video post on X (formerly Twitter) of Congress leader Sachin Pilot urging people to vote for his party in the upcoming assembly election, putting to rest speculations of an intra-party dispute between both the senior leaders in the state. This comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, campaigning for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly election, took an indirect dig at both leaders referring to the power tussle between them. Earlier, PM Modi pointed out that despite both the ‘rivals’ within the grand old party shaking hands on multiple occasions over the years, there has been no reconciliation between them. “In cricket, a batter comes and scores runs for his team. But there is so much infighting within the Congress that instead of scoring runs, its leaders spent five years trying to run out each other,” the Prime Minister said. Referring that it is a thing of the past, Pilot tried to downplay the speculations about the feud. “We met (Congress president Mallikarjun) Kharge and (Rahul) Gandhi... the party took cognisance (of my concerns)… The party high command told me to forgive and forget, and move on,” NDTV reported quoting the former Rajasthan deputy CM.

In Chittorgarh, PM Modi's all-out attack on Ashok Gehlot govt: ‘Destroyed Rajasthan’

Addressing a public rally at Chittorgarh in the poll-bound state, Modi said, 'The Congress government in Rajasthan has destroyed the state in the past five years. It pains me that the state tops in crime list... The maximum number of cases of crime against women are from Rajasthan... Is this why you voted for the Congress?' Modi said Rajasthan has decided to save the state by bringing back the BJP government.
