India announces breakthroughs in diagnosing tuberculosis and sickle cell anaemia patients

 

Rajiv Bahl, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), at the 19th International Conference on Drug Regulatory Authorities (ICDRA) in India 2024, announced new projects and advances in public health. 

He highlighted significant progress in TB diagnosis: a new portable X-ray unit developed for TB screening will improve early detection and treatment of the disease. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

Bahl also announced the development of three test kits for Mpox diagnostics and noted that three companies are manufacturing them.

According to Bahl, India has developed 18 low-cost tests to diagnose sickle cell anaemia.

Bahl also said the launch of a vaccine against dengue fever is near if clinical trial data confirms its efficacy and safety.
