Heavy Rains and Hail to Impact Parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan This Weekend
The unseasonal rainfall activity expected to soak West-Central India may end up doing so quite thoroughly, as intense showers have been forecast in some parts of the region this weekend. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), fairly widespread light to moderate rains, isolated thunderstorms and lightning are likely over Gujarat during the weekend (Nov 25-26) and across Maharashtra, Goa and Madhya Pradesh until Monday (Nov 25-27). And with this wet spell peaking on Sunday, residents of East Rajasthan, Vidarbha, north Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat region and southwest Madhya Pradesh may see their Sunday (Nov 26) ruined by isolated heavy downpours (64.5 mm-115.5 mm). Further, isolated locations in south Rajasthan, southwest Madhya Pradesh, north Madhya Maharashtra and north Marathwada may also experience hail on Sunday and Monday (Nov 26-27). When raindrops get blown upward into extremely cold areas of the atmosphere, they freeze up and subsequently fall as hail when the thunderstorm-associated updrafts can no longer support their weight. Given these predictions, the IMD has issued a yellow watch over these subdivisions during this forecast period. The advisory urges the residents to ‘be aware’ of the local weather situation, especially during thunderstorm activity.

Four migrant labourers from Bihar died due to suffocation while working inside a septic tank in Surat. Police are questioning senior officials of the factory. Four migrant labourers from Bihar lost their lives due to suffocation while working inside a septic tank in a village in Surat, police said on Wednesday. The incident occurred at a dyeing factory on Palsana-Katodara road on Tuesday evening. Preliminary investigation suggests that two workers initially fell unconscious during the septic tank cleaning process, prompting two others to attempt a rescue, a police official aware of the matter said. H L Rathore, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bardoli Division, said that the senior officials of the factory are being questioned. The process of identifying the deceased individuals, who hail from Bihar, is currently underway, the official added.
