The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the Dharmasthala mass burial case has begun a “Reverse Investigation,” re-examining earlier records and questioning key witnesses to strengthen the inquiry.
According to official sources, the SIT is currently reviewing the Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and missing-persons documents related to the case. Investigators have also questioned Bheema, the complainant and one of the main witnesses, to cross-check earlier statements and fill gaps in the evidence chain.
The SIT was constituted on July 19, 2025, following a complaint filed at the Dharmasthala police station on July 3, 2025. Since then, the team has been tasked with verifying earlier findings, exploring new leads, and addressing public concerns about the credibility of the investigation.
Speaking in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly recently, Home Minister G. Parameshwara assured that the government is committed to bringing out the truth. “The SIT will carry out the investigation in a fair and transparent manner,” he said.
The case has drawn significant attention across the state, with activists, local communities, and political observers closely watching the progress of the inquiry. For now, SIT officials maintain that the re-examination of foundational documents and witness testimony will form a crucial step in deciding the future course of action.
Despite the hurdles and the noise surrounding this sensitive case, there is hope that the SIT will stay focused on its investigation and ensure that truth and justice prevail.
