Once upon a time, in a small village nestled near a dense forest, there lived two friends named Sam and Leo. They were inseparable and did everything together. One day, they decided to venture into the forest to gather berries and explore. Before leaving, an old villager warned them, "The forest is beautiful but dangerous. Stay together, and be cautious."
As they wandered deeper into the forest, laughing and chatting, they suddenly heard a loud rustling in the bushes. Out of nowhere, a massive bear appeared, growling and charging toward them. Sam, who was quick on his feet, immediately climbed up a nearby tree to safety. Leo, however, was not as fast. He froze in fear, unsure of what to do.
Remembering a story he had once heard, Leo lay down on the ground and pretended to be dead. He held his breath and stayed perfectly still. The bear approached him, sniffed around his face, and after what felt like an eternity, it lumbered away, losing interest in what it thought was a lifeless body.
When the bear was finally out of sight, Sam climbed down from the tree and rushed over to Leo. "What did the bear say to you?" Sam asked, trying to lighten the mood. Leo, still shaken, looked at his friend and replied, "The bear told me to never trust a friend who abandons you in times of danger."
Sam's face turned red with shame. He realized that in his moment of fear, he had only thought of saving himself and left Leo to face the bear alone. He apologized sincerely, and Leo, being kind-hearted, forgave him. From that day on, Sam vowed to be a better friend and never leave Leo's side, no matter the danger.
Moral of the story: A true friend stands by you in times of trouble. Fair-weather friends may abandon you when you need them most, but a loyal friend will always have your back.
