Once upon a time, in a small village near the forests of South India, there lived a mischievous boy named Arjun. Every day, his parents sent him to take their goats to graze near the edge of the forest. Arjun was a cheerful boy, but he often felt bored and lonely while watching the goats.
One afternoon, Arjun decided to have some fun. He ran toward the village shouting, “Tiger! Tiger! A tiger is chasing the goats!”
The villagers, alarmed and worried, grabbed sticks, sickles, and whatever they could find and ran to help him. But when they reached the forest clearing, there was no tiger in sight. Arjun burst into laughter and said, “I fooled you all! There was no tiger!”
The villagers were annoyed but let it go.
A few days later, Arjun played the same trick again. “Tiger! Tiger!” he screamed. The villagers rushed once more—only to find Arjun laughing again.
“You’re so easy to fool!” he said.
This time, the villagers were angry. “Don’t cry ‘tiger’ when there isn’t one. What if we don’t believe you next time?”

But Arjun just laughed and didn’t take their words seriously.
Then one day, while Arjun was watching the goats, a real tiger came out of the forest! It growled and began chasing the goats. Frightened, Arjun ran toward the village shouting, “Tiger! Tiger! Please help! This time it’s real!”
But no one came. The villagers thought he was joking again.
Arjun screamed and cried, but no one believed him. By the time some villagers came to check, the goats had scattered, and the tiger had vanished back into the forest.
Arjun sat on the ground, ashamed and sad. He realized that his lies had caused him to lose the trust of the villagers.
From that day onward, Arjun never lied again. He became honest and responsible, earning back the trust of the people slowly.
Moral of the Story: “If you lie all the time, no one will believe you even when you tell the truth.”
