In a vast jungle in India, there lived a mighty lion named Sheru. He was strong, feared by all, and considered the king of the forest. One afternoon, after a hearty meal, Sheru lay down beneath a shady tree and dozed off into a deep sleep.
While he was sleeping, a little mouse named Meenu, who lived nearby, came out of her hole to play. She ran up and down, squeaking with joy, and accidentally scurried across the lion’s huge paw. The sudden movement woke Sheru with a roar!
With a mighty swipe of his paw, he trapped the tiny mouse under it.
“Who dares disturb my sleep?” growled the lion.
Terrified, Meenu squeaked, “Oh mighty Sheru, please forgive me! I didn’t mean to wake you. I was just playing. Please let me go, and one day, I promise I’ll help you in return!”
Sheru laughed loudly. “You? Help me? How can such a tiny creature like you ever help a great lion like me?”
Still, the lion was amused by the mouse’s courage and decided to spare her life. “Go now, little one. But remember your promise.”
Days passed. One afternoon, while wandering near the edge of the jungle, Sheru got caught in a hunter’s net. He roared in anger and fear, thrashing and struggling, but the ropes were too strong.

Meenu, the little mouse, heard his cries. Without a second thought, she rushed to the spot.
“Don’t worry, Sheru. I haven’t forgotten my promise,” she said.
With her tiny teeth, she nibbled at the ropes of the net. Bit by bit, she gnawed through them until finally, the lion was free. Sheru was amazed and grateful.
“You were right, Meenu. Even the smallest friend can be the greatest help.”
From that day on, Sheru and Meenu became the best of friends, showing everyone in the jungle that size doesn’t matter when it comes to kindness and loyalty.
Moral of the Story:
"No act of kindness is ever wasted, and even the smallest friend can be the biggest help."
