The Fox and the Stork

Once upon a time, a clever fox invited a stork to dinner. The fox, known for being sly, had something mischievous in mind and thought it would be fun to play a trick on the stork.

The day of the dinner arrived and the fox prepared a delicious soup. However, when it was time to serve, the fox poured the soup into shallow plates. The fox licked up his soup with ease, but the poor stork, with her long beak, could only tap the plate with her bill and couldn’t manage to get even a drop of soup.

The fox pretended to be concerned. "Oh dear, Stork! Is the soup not to your liking?" he asked slyly.

The stork, realizing she had been tricked, remained calm and polite. She replied, "Oh, it's quite fine, thank you. But perhaps next time, you can come to my house for dinner. I would love to return the favor!"

The fox, pleased with how his prank had turned out, agreed to visit the stork's home the following week.

When the day came, the stork prepared a tasty meal. She served the food in tall, narrow-necked jars, just perfect for her long beak. The fox, however, couldn't fit his snout into the jar and could only sniff the food from the outside, unable to eat anything. The stork, on the other hand, easily enjoyed her meal.

As the fox sat there, hungry and frustrated, the stork calmly said, "I hope you are enjoying the dinner, dear fox. I prepared it just for you, just as you did for me."

The fox realized that the stork had outwitted him and he felt ashamed of his earlier trick. He learned a valuable lesson that day about treating others the way he wished to be treated.

Moral of the story: "Treat others the way you want to be treated." If you are unkind to others, they may repay you in the same manner.
