Palak paneer is a popular North Indian dish made with spinach and paneer (Indian cheese).
Here's a recipe for preparing palak paneer at home for serving four people:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups chopped spinach (palak)
- 200g paneer, cut into small cubes
- 1 medium-sized onion, chopped
- 2 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Water as required
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they crackle, add chopped onions and green chili. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
- Add chopped spinach and mix well. Cook on medium heat until the spinach wilts and turns soft.
- Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down.
- Once the mixture has cooled, blend it into a smooth paste using a blender or mixer.
- Heat the same pan again and add the blended spinach paste. Add water as required to adjust the consistency.
- Add paneer cubes and cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes until the paneer cubes are soft and well-cooked.
- Add garam masala powder and mix well. Cook for another minute.
- Serve hot with roti, naan or rice.
