Coconut ladoo is a delicious Indian sweet made from grated coconut, condensed milk and cardamom.

Here's a simple recipe to prepare coconut ladoo:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups grated coconut (fresh or desiccated)
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (such as almonds, cashews, or pistachios) for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  • Prepare Coconut Mixture:
    • In a non-stick pan, heat grated coconut over medium-low heat. If you're using desiccated coconut, you can add a tablespoon of milk to moisten it slightly.
    • Stir the coconut continuously for a few minutes until it becomes aromatic and slightly toasted. This step helps enhance the flavor of the coconut.
  • Add Condensed Milk:
    • Once the coconut is toasted, add the sweetened condensed milk to the pan.
    • Stir well to combine the coconut and condensed milk thoroughly.
  • Cook the Mixture:
    • Cook the coconut-condensed milk mixture over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
    • Continue cooking until the mixture thickens slightly and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  • If using ground cardamom, add it to the coconut mixture and mix well. Cardamom adds a wonderful aroma and flavor to the ladoo.
  • Once the coconut mixture is cooked and thickened, remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  • Shape into Ladoo:
    • Grease your hands with a little ghee or oil to prevent sticking. Take small portions of the coconut mixture and roll them into round balls (ladoo) between your palms.
    • Repeat the process until all the mixture is used up.
  • If desired, you can garnish the coconut ladoo with chopped nuts such as almonds, cashews, or pistachios. Simply press the chopped nuts onto the surface of the ladoo while they're still soft.
  • Your coconut ladoo are ready to be enjoyed! You can serve them immediately or store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

These coconut ladoo are a delightful treat for festivals, celebrations, or as a sweet indulgence any time of the year.
